As we wind down the year and wind up for Christmas I just want to take this opportunity to thank you for reading my articles and supporting our work. I’ll be taking a short break from writing and back in January.
I have a dream that I may realise next year, of spending this time of year with my close family in a log cabin in the mountains. I’m focusing on the romance of the idea – the open fire, sounds of snow, candles, mulled wine and smell of pine – and it’s long been a dream.
As it is, we’ll make the most of our city Christmas and the family closeness, exchanging gifts and eating good food. I find it also a time to take stock of all the things I’m grateful for in the last 12 months and set some direction for the year to come.
It’s been quite a year hasn’t it? I read that in this country people are grumpier and sadder than usual because of the closedowns and stress of the pandemic. So I count myself hugely fortunate that I’m ending the year in a good place and enjoying relationship and family.
If you are also celebrating Christmas and New Year at this time then I wish you a joyful and relaxing time and looking forward to a great 2021.
Ian
